Ditch Generic Affirmations and Create Personalized Affirmations Instead

Affirmations are powerful but let’s talk straight, they don’t always work. A lot of women tell me affirmations feel unnatural, like they’re saying something they don’t buy into yet. And honestly, I get it. Generic, one-size-fits-all affirmations are designed for the general public, and aren’t tailored to your unique mindset or energy.

“I am powerful”, “I am worthy”, “I am unstoppable” — these just suck!!!!

Today, I’m walking you through my go-to 4 Step Method for crafting bold, personalized affirmations that fire up your confidence and have you saying, “I’m not stopping until I get what I want!”

When you listen to them daily or repeat them out loud, you will connect with the truth of your soul. Your customized affirmations will communicate with your subconscious mind, not just the surface level part of your brain. So, let’s goooooo!

💛 But First…Why Confidence Affirmations Matter

Confidence isn’t something outside yourself. It’s something we remember. It’s the natural byproduct of healing and spiritual alignment. And yes, the right confidence affirmations can help you get there but only if they’re practiced with intention and belief.

Affirmations help rewire and uproot the false beliefs or conditioning we’ve unknowingly adopted as truth. Customized affirmations resonate with our Higher Self, the magnetic action taker side of you that feels completely worthy of good things. When you speak words of truth over yourself daily, especially with emotion, your energy starts to shift. You move differently and people notice. That’s a sexy energy to be in! 😉 The best part though, is you begin to trust yourself again.

✨ Write Affirmations That Hit Different: My “4 Step Method”

Writing affirmations that actually hit is easier than you might imagine. Here is my 4 Step Method that I’ve used time and time again to rewire my subconscious mind into fortified confidence. I used to hide and say sorry for simply existing, for what I charged for my services, and for how I looked. It was a truly miserable, soul crushing place to be. Now I carry a bold sass and refuse to dismiss myself.

Here’s the 4 Step Method in action:

💫 Step 1: Get honest about the self-doubt

Start by naming the sneaky thought that’s been bringing you down.
What’s the story your inner critic keeps replaying?
✍🏼 Example: “I’m not experienced enough to charge for my services.”
Don’t judge it babe, just get it out on paper.

💫 Step 2: Flip it into a loving truth

Now ask yourself:
What’s the opposite of this thought, the truth I’d rather live by?
The key here is to make it feel like a stretch, but not so far out that your body rejects it.
💃🏽 Instead of forcing “I’m a six-figure CEO” (if that feels fake, which I’m guessing it does), try:
“I’m growing into the kind of woman who confidently receives money for her magic.”

💫 Step 3: Speak it in the now

Your affirmation should feel alive and personal.
Use “I” statements and keep it present tense so your subconscious can latch onto it.
💃🏽 “I am showing up boldly and receiving payments, even when fear tries to make me run and hide.”

💫 Step 4: Add some soul + sass

This is where you let your inner queen speak. Anyone who knows me, knows I have a playful side. Make it spicy, heartfelt, or bold. Don’t be afraid to make it a little edgy, we need to shock our mind into a new way of thinking.
💃🏽 Example: “I’m on my purpose and done playing dumb. The world’s just gonna have to deal with it.”

Confession: I once used the most unconventional affirmation (okay technically it was more of a mantra) to get me through a massive life transition that felt way too big and scary. My mind was split, either everything was going to turn out amazing or crash and burn. This was the time in my life where I left my secure health clinic job and moved across the country to pursue my own spiritual business.

At that time, I told myself, “Let’s see how much I can mess up my life.” I know, not your typical affirming statement. But weirdly, it worked. I took the bold actions I had planned with that phrase running through my head like a battle cry. Seriously, I clung to it, repeating it over and over again.

Here’s the thing, affirmations are not always sunshine and sparkles. Sometimes the most powerful ones are the gritty, rebellious kind that meet you exactly where you are. That affirming statement helped me make peace with the worst-case scenario and gave me the freedom to take the leap anyway. It reminded me that screwing things up is not the end, and I’m allowed to mess stuff up.

After all, the outcome was beautiful for me, here I am running my spiritual business full-time. 😊

5 Affirmations to Experiment With:

  1. I lead with fierce love, not fear.
  2. Even when it’s tough, I still rise and show up boldly.
  3. I am convinced, and I’m only going up.
  4. I’m seriously proud of the powerhouse woman I’m becoming.
  5. My worth isn’t up for debate, pay me peanuts and watch me leave.

🤔 Do you FEEL any of these? Snag them for yourself! #5 hit different when I made the decision to leave the job that underpaid me and treated me like I wasn’t a human.

Pro Tips to Make Your Affirmations Hit Different:

  • Write them down — Journaling affirmations adds power. Type them in your phone note app. Bonus points if you speak them aloud while you write.
  • Feel the words — Don’t just say them. Speak them slowly, get super present. Let your body receive them. Notice how your body reacts and what they awaken within you.
  • Repeat them daily — Especially in the morning, when your mind is soft and open. I used to put a handwritten piece of paper under my pillow. I’d repeat them first thing, until eventually I had them memorized.
  • Choose what resonates — If an affirmation feels too fake or far away, adjust it to make it more realistic. It needs to feel at the edge of your comfort zone but possible.
  • Record your voice saying them — Use your voice memo app to record yourself saying your affirmations with a high-vibe instrumental song behind it. Listen to it anytime you have a dip in your energy.

💫 Final Reminder: Confidence is a Practice!

You don’t need to earn your confidence. You just need to return to it. I’ve said it more times than I can count, but forcing things is not your natural state of being.

It’s time to allow in the love, the blessings, the abundance, and the confidence that are already here. Your Higher Self and confidence have always been here, you are just reconnecting! Affirmations are a tool you can continue to return to in your spiritual practice, and it’s one of my favorite ways to maintain impeccable mental hygiene.
